5k Race starts at the entrance to the Genesee Valley Greenway at Bull Street in Cuba and navigates through the west side of the village, over bridges constructed by Dr. Doyle’s community initiatives, past his former residence to the Liberty Pole.
Dr. Doyle spearheaded countless community projects in Cuba throughout his life. One of many was the Cuba Section of the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail with his friends and colleagues at the Cuba Friends of Architecture. Inspired by Michael’s commitment and community, Dr. Kim Meehan and Ed Meehan have launched the Outdoor Arts & Recreation Society (OARS) which is due to open in 2025 in Cuba. OARS supports outdoor recreation for youth, disabled and Veterans and their families. Support of the 5k Race to the Liberty Pole will go to expanding amentiies on the trail and supporting free programming at OARS.
