Insect Pinning

This is a common method used in entomology to preserve insect specimens for study or display, where a specialized insect pin is inserted through the insect's thorax to hold it in place as it dries. Pinning allows for long-term preservation of insects by drying them out while keeping them in a stable position. This course teaches students how to rehydrate specimens, identify the anatomical parts of insects and where to pin them, leg and wind articulation techniques, and long-term mounting for display.
