Fossil Prep 101 is one full day of hands-on training in the basics of paleontology, fossil excavation, preparation, preservation, and curation. This course provides hands-on training in the techniques used to carefully remove surrounding rock matrix from fossilized specimens, revealing the preserved bones or other structures, allowing for scientific study and display, often involving the use of specialized tools like pneumatic scribes, microscopes, and adhesives to meticulously clean and reconstruct fragile fossil fragments; Course lessons on proper handling, conservation methods, and the identification of different types of fossils depending on what you pull from the outcrop!
